INDIANS ROCK COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
"Field of Dreams": The Baseball Project

This was accomplished despite many deficiencies in the Manhasset Varsity Baseball Field which
include uneven playing surfaces, particularly in the infield where drainage is poor, leaving areas of
standing water after it rains. Many practices and games have been cancelled as a result. An
insufficient irrigation system limits maintenance operations and directly impacts the condition and
playability of the field. In addition, there is no safe place for relief pitchers or batters to warm up —
and limited seating for players and fans to safely enjoy the game.

Planned renovation of the Manhasset Varsity Baseball Field includes the installation of a new
infield, backstop, sideline fencing, batting cage, bullpen, team dugouts and spectator bleachers. The
estimated cost for these improvements is $275,000. Our goal is to raise funds by September 15th,
begin construction in November 2008 and be completed by opening day in March 2009! We hope you
will participate in our fundrasing by making a generous donation to support this local community

The Field Of Dreams Baseball Project is an exciting first project
under the Indians Rock “Field of Dreams” Committee.
Spearheaded by Sandy Demitroff and Mimi Donohue.  This
project  will support the quality of our existing school baseball
program which has expanded in popularity since the inception
of the Manhasset Baseball League 10 years ago. Manhasset’s
multiyear investment in developing a more competitive
baseball program has paid off with three consecutive trips to
the playoffs, and with this year’s 2008 Varsity Baseball team
clinching its first conference title in 32 years.
